The real reason why Christians have lost their flavor.

There was once a young, vibrant woman, who was lacking something in her life. She had lived a hard, un-fulfilling life and wanted a drastic change. She was tired of living a lie. She was tired of her marriage. She was tired of feeling empty and bitter. She was Tired of Being Tired. She was lost… And now it was time for a change!

The real reason why Christians have lost their flavor

One day, a co-worker spoke to her because she noticed how depressed and down she was. She spoke about Jesus and how he could change her life, if she only trusted him.  The lady felt that she had nothing to lose and she was tired of living a lie. She wanted to fill her void.

Did ESPN’s Chris Broussard deserve punishment for being Christian?

20130501-155131.jpg

A few days ago Jason Collins came out as the first, black, openly gay, NBA basketball player. He says he didn’t set out to be the first, but he couldn’t hold back any longer.  He wanted to be free.  It doesn’t surprise me – but honestly it does upset me.

The reason it upsets me is because Chris Broussard, the ESPN sportswriter, who is Christian, took a stand against homosexuality by saying that he believed in marriage being between a man and woman. And now his ESPN job is on the line for doing so.

In their image.

You shall have no other gods before Me.”

—Exodus 20:3

Pastor Chuck Smith once told a story about a Papua New Guinea tribe that had a widespread birth defect. Everyone had one leg shorter than the other. Interestingly, the idol they worshipped also had one leg shorter than the other. They had created a god in their own image.

I believe this is the same direction America is going. When people say, “I am spiritual, I am just not religious,” it is code for “I’m making it up as I go.”

Calling All Closet Christians!

I just had the pleasure of watching Oprah Winfrey interview the creators of The Bible Series, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey last night on OWN. I have to say that it was an awesome interview that Oprah did, by asking them questions of how this series was created.  It was also awesome to know that these Hollywood moguls are Christian and unashamed of it, might I add! They are not “Closet Christians.”

Since its premiere in March 2013, 100 million people—including Oprah—have watched The Bible, a miniseries produced by the husband-and-wife team of Mark Burnett and Roma Downey. What does the success of this series say about our culture? Watch as Roma shares what she believes viewers are yearning for. Plus, Mark and Roma discuss the show’s primetime rival, AMC’s The Walking Dead. -OWN

How to be free from suffering.

As it is written, We are being put to death all day long for your sake. We are treated like sheep for slaughter. But in all these things we win a sweeping victory through the one who loved us.

I’m convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord: not death or life, not angels or rulers, not present things or future things, not powers or height or depth, or any other thing that is created. (Romans 8:36-39 CEB)

Satan is also a cheerful giver.

My husband and I watched Tyler Perry’s new movie “Temptation” Monday. “It’s about a woman who starts to get restless in her relationship and her choice to be with another man has a huge effect on the rest of her life,” explains screenwriter/producer/director Tyler Perry. I don’t want to spoil the story for those who may want to see it, but it’s about deceit that can or will occur in marriages and families. As always Satan is involved…

This movie reminded me that in relationships as well as life, Satan always looks for new ways (and some faithful ones) to steal, kill and destroy the most important things or people in our lives. That will always be his mission until God sees fit to eternally destroy him and his followers.

How to stop claiming Jesus only at Easter.

As most of you know, Easter or Resurrection Sunday, as Christians now call it, is this Sunday. Sunday is the most important day to Christians because it’s the day our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ arose from the dead! He got up from the grave when no one else could… With ALL Power in his hands!

Christians know this to be true, through faith, on a daily basis. We believe and invite Jesus into our hearts and ask that his will be done in our lives. We live for him. We breath for him. We even die for him.

Are you one of the ones who only claim Jesus at Easter?

All critiques of the “Bible Series” aren’t coming from non-believers…

I’ve been watching the Bible Series on the History Channel since it began two weeks ago. I must admit that I personally feel that Roma Downey and Mark Burnett have done a remarkable job bringing the Bible to life. And I look forward to each new episode every week.

For those of us who have tried to read the bible in its entirety, it can be hard envisioning just what they went through. From Noah building the Ark and having to take care of his family and all the animals to unwavering Abraham and his descendants to last weeks episode of Samson and Delilah’s greed to King Saul’s jealousy of David. I truly felt the emotions, drive and faith that the Holy Spirit allowed me to experience through them.
