I must admit that when I first wake up in the morning, I don’t always talk to God. It’s not that I don’t talk to God at all, it’s just that I personally talk to Him at night. Talking to God should be an all day thing. We are supposed to pray and talk to God without ceasing – that means constantly…. But first thing in the morning is the best time to start your day off right – with God on your mind.
Most people think about the bad and stressful things of the day when they awake such as:
- work
- getting kids off to school
- your to do list
- your spouse
- after school activities
- bills
You can put just about anything in this category – just fill in the blank. But it’s not God’s goal – it’s Satan’s. Satan doesn’t want you concentrating and praying to God first thing in the morning. He doesn’t want God ordering your footsteps and giving you direction for the day. He doesn’t want you to have joy in your hearts – he wants you to wake up stressful and defeated.
If you’re not currently doing so, you have to learn how to have fellowship with the Lord as soon as you awake. You first need to thank Him for waking you up. You need to thank Him for seeing you through the previous day and being with you today. You need to thank Him for filling your heart with peace and giving your mind clarity. And you can thank Him just for being God.
I have noticed that when I do pray to God when I awake, my day is easier – with no drama. And even if drama occurs, I know that God has it under control. I noticed that I have more joy in my heart. I noticed that when Satan tried to get me down, I allowed God (and not my usual self) to fight for me. And I noticed that I smiled a lot more…
So why not start your day talking to God?
Tell Him “How Great Thou Art” or “This is the Day that the Lord has made! I will rejoice and be glad in it!” (Psalm 118:24)
God doesn’t ask us for anything – except our Faith and our PRAISE!
Question: What can you do today to include God into your morning ritual?
Be blessed,
Wanda
